The Serpent Terror from the Deep - Manda!

Inbetween illustrations, here is a another Garage Kit! Just finished: Manda (マンダ) the sea monster from the Toho movie »Atragon«. A challenging vinyl kit by the Japanese company »Paradise«. Its a whopping 60cm / 24" high, painted with acrylics and some airbrush Efx. The kit was missing the whiskers, they will be replaced soo. Some Photoshopped headshots thrown in for good measure.

The last Monster of 2011: King Caesar (or Seesar, Shisa or else...)

King Caesar (or Seesar, Shisa etc.) from the Kaiju-Masterwork »Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla« (1974), directed by Jun Fukuda. This resin kit was produced by Resin Chef/ Team Ukeke and sculpted by Bill Gudmundson. Still one of my favorite characters from the Godzilla showa series, the figure seems to be in scale with the Billiken ゴジラ kits.

He is also one Monster blessed with an own wake up song:

The kit was easy to assemble, but clean up and resculpting the fur to hide the seams was painful and time consuming. The decals for the eyes didn't stick at all- so I ditched them. Painted with Acrylic paints and a scratchbuild base made of styrofoam.

More Giant Monsters from the far east: Gomess of Ultra-Q

Billiken is one of the pioneer GK Companies, since the late 80ties they producing topnotch vinyl models of American and Japanese Movie/TV characters. I this case here it's Gomess of the vintage Nippon TV series "Ultra-Q". He starred in the first episode. Looks familiar, don't he? He was made from an old Godzilla costume, SFX wizard Eji Tsuburaya wanted to save some serious Yen and just redecorated an old suit he had lying around.
Billiken's model kit is spot on, detailed and even the rubber suit feeling is still there. Painted with acrylics and Airbrush.

Destroy all Monsters!

One more finished commission: Godzilla's oldest friend/foe Angilas/Anguirus in his brandnew 1968 costume from the Toho flick "Destroy all Monsters" (1968) by the Japanese Company IMAGE.

This resin kit is more on the small side, but due to spikes quite hard to handle. Painted with acrylics, airbrush and Games Workshop washes.
